Hell has frozen over...

Soccer lover Ryan Hatch will be doing play-by-play for RSL on 1280.

Remember how he has always talked about how great soccer is. 🙄

According to Hatch he was begged by RSL to do it. He told several of the Utah media types last week in Tucson for Utes NCAA hoops that Checketts called and begged him to do it.

Discuss...

YOU ARE JOKING RIGHT?!!??!?!?!!?

I have argued over soccer with Hatch countless times.. he HATES it!!! How can he do the play-by-play if he hates the game??!?!?! He'll kill it! There is no way he was begged to do it, he runs that station right? He decided to do it and in order to save face he is saying he was begged.. that must be it.

HELL HAS TRULY FROZEN OVER

No joke... I was informed of the Hatch bragging by the guy my place of employment sent to cover the Utes Hoop team.

If it is true then I am honestly concerned! 😲 😲

Hatch has expressed his hatred of soccer for years and years. How in the world can he now to pbp for RSL? Perhaps he will attempt to make it sound boring on purpose???

I don't get it at all.

Look at it this way: this Hatch guy has now been humbled because his bosses and the powerful that make up RSL are making him do this. Now he must eat humble pie.

Who's doing commentary?

Why not Fito Ovalle? He speaks English better than most Americans.

That is pretty weird if true.

But on the bright side, maybe after actually experiencing soccer rather than simply talking about it, he will be converted and become soccer's biggest advocate. I'd be willing to bet that he has never been to an actual game before. I'll bet he has never even watched a full match on TV. This could be a good thing. If we can convert him, then we can convert anybody.

If only that were true. Unfortunately Hatch runs 1280 "The Zone" so I doubt this is the case. He's a big, fat dork that thinks he's too cool for school. I can hear his dumb laugh in my head as I'm typing this. Time to go jump off the roof...

Not really adding any opinion on the matter, just a few facts:

-Hatch used to do the radio play-by-play for some high school games as well as the Utah Warriors Indoor football team. He does have some experiece (although not with soccer).

-Hatch has said in the past that he has travelled to Europe and attended some soccer games there. He loved the passion and the atmosphere (and probably the drinking).

I think that he can be decent and depending on the color commentator he is teamed up with, it could work out. But seriously, how many of you will be listening to the radio play-by-play anyway? I'd be more concerned if he were the TV guy.
