Speaking of the USMNT coach, I can’t speak highly enough of Bruce Arena. The guy’s approach to the game is awesome! I hope he stays on as coach for a long time to come!!

I've heard rumors he could be the next to jump to Europe. That's right, an American coaching in Europe.

Odds are he'll leave the USMNT after World Cup 2006. Eight years on the job is a long time. He's already done everything he can do in American soccer, so Europe would be a logical next step.

However, it will take a very brave club president in the Eurozone to hire an American as coach. American players have fought their way to respectability over there, but coaches? If anyone can do it, Arena can. The man is as tough as they come.

That's what I was chuckling about last night. Sigi must be pissed off right about now...

Any thoughts on who could succeed Arena?

How about Rongen? He should be available soon.

Seriously, I think Bob Bradley is the heir apparent. And depending on how he does with RSL, it pains me but I think John Ellinger may be a candidate.

Others will likely emerge, but those two are the first that came to mind.

I think Sigi Schmidt has to be a candidate now. I think he is such a good coach.
How many think that he will go to Toronto if they get an MLS team?

Bradley would be a shoo-in if he hadn't left the Fire for the quagmire that is the Metros.

Sigi is a great practice coach and one of the best at creating the right team chemistry. He is not so good as a gameday coach. Remember the Quakes-Galaxy playoff series in 2003?

National Team coaches don't have the luxury of not knowing how to handle gameday adjustments. I would not be pleased to see Schmid as National Team coach, although he's likely on the list. He's coaching the U-20's right now, so he's in the system.

Bradley has done better than anyone else with the Metros, but that's not saying much. Has he hurt his chances for National Team coach? I doubt it. But he's not head and shoulders above anyone else, and he was seen that way by many when he left the Fire.

Let me get this straight, do you prefer Sigi or Sampson in LA?
Yeah, thats what I thought.
SJ went on a hot streak in the 2nd game, thats why Sigi lost to eventual cup winners, the Quakes.
