Man, sleep deprivation is getting to me.
Isn't our ticket sales manager DCAdUnited's former ticket manager? He probably has forgotten more about how to put together a good section than all of us will ever know. RFK has had a lot of qualifiers. I'd call him, but I don't want to say that I am speaking for the Loyalists/US Supporters. And we still need Rabble Rabble or any other U of U Gridiron fans to suggest the perfect spot to tailgate. That lot west of the stadium will probably be taken up by TV trucks/VIP's?

Sure, Prime; I will send you a PM & you can send me Chris' info.
But I don't want to contact him, and imply that I am some sort of decision-maker. Here's a goofy idea: Maybe Chris & the rest of us can get together at Iggy's (the Downtown Iggy's, right?) before or during the Space Cadets - RSL match and talk about what we will do?

Here's an update from BigDog.

I'm assuming that you guys don't have a relationship with the RSL FO - but if you do. 3 critical things for tailgates: 1. Time that lots will open for tailgates. 2. Get a particular spot that all sammers can go to. At Bham, we were scattered all over the parking lot, because the way parking authority mandated where you park. One big tailgate is preferable to 50 little ones! At Foxboro last year, a special form was displayed that got you to the sammers lot. At RFK we can park where ever we like. 3. Rules on tailgating at RSL. I don't know the RSL rules - you may not until you have a game. Best to discuss ahead of time. Looks like many people are choosing the following hotels. Marriott at U of U, Courtyard downtown, Hilton. Question how far from the train is the Marriott at U of U? Thanks! Joe Last edited by TerryDCU : 04-04-2005 at 09:42 PM.

I understand that Ed is coming with the BAF. Not sure about Tread (wasn't there for Bham) - Last I saw it was in Cbus. I think the 50 state flag is coming. They'll all be in the Sammers section.

I think we'll all have a pretty good idea about tailgating after the first few home matches. The big tailgate lot for pointy ball games is the lot south east of Rice-Eccles on the south side of 5th South. This is the lot where the fans can bring in their RVs, campers, buses, and other large vehicles. (They have to purchase special permits to get there as it's the only place you can park oversized vehicles in.) Other fans set up shop in smaller vehicles (Pickup trucks, Hummers, SUVs in other lots, the parking lot north of Merril Engineering Building (about 1/2 mile from the stadium) is popular as there is plenty of room there.
For the soccer games, We're supposed to be getting our own section in the lot west of the stadium as I understand things. For some of the fans, the big issue is will fans be allowed to enjoy a cold beverage of their choice before the match. Alcohol is of course banned on school grounds, but this rule is generally overlooked before football games, we'll have to wait and see what happens. 12 days until the home opener!!!

If you're staying at the University Park Marriott, you should just take either the ubiquitous Campus Shuttle to the stadium or get the hotel's van to drop you off at the stadium.
http://www.parking.utah.edu/shuttles.htm Unless you like walking long distances between the pre-party and the tailgate...
