Recent USMNT Attendance

Okay here's the attendance for the last 10 USMNT games played in the US:
31,624 v Guatemala 2-0 W (Birmingham, Ala.) +
9,222 v Honduras 1-0 W (Albuquerque, N.M.)
7,086 v Colombia 3-0 W (Fullerton, Calif.)
9,088 v Jamaica 1-1 T (Columbus, Ohio) +
19,793 v Panama 6-0 W (Washington, D.C.) +
25,266 v El Salvador 2-0 W (Foxboro, Mass.) +
39,529 v Poland 1-1 T (Chicago)
9,137 v Grenada 3-0 W (Columbus) +
11,533 v Honduras 4-0 W (Foxboro)
45,048 v Mexico 1-0 W (Dallas)

That's an average of 20,733 per game. The games against Poland in Chicago (largest Polish population outside of Poland) and Mexico in Dallas (are we sure that was a "home" game?) skew the numbers due huge amount of the other team's fans. Without those two games the average is 15,344. As an RSL fan I would love to see close the number of people at the Costa Rica game rival the Poland or Mexico games. And you can be sure that if there are that many, there will a greater portion cheering for the U.S. of A. than in the other two games.

I ordered my tickets today and the guy who took the order said that they've been selling tickets all afternoon. To be honest, I could see 40,000 fans at the game. One thing is for certain - they won't be able to put up the tarp advertisements, they're going to need the seats!

Go USA! But more importantly, Go RSL!!! :D

In 2003, the U.S. Women’s National Team topped Ireland 5-0 in preparation for the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup in front of 19,584 fans at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
That's a good benchmark but I think that we can go way above 20k for three reasons:
1) We just had 25k at an RSL game and World Cup games are just as big, if not bigger, draw.
2) I guess I only have one reason... RSL RSL RSL. People that got a good taste of soccer on Saturday will want more, especially World Cup stuff and also because of the double header ticket deal. Super cool.

Frankly, I'll be disappointed with anything less than a full house.

With what we saw Saturday would anyone expect anything less? I agree with you Arelius, the house will be full and it will be rockin!

I know this is kinda off topic, but has anyone else just replayed Dunnie's goal from Saturday over and over like I have today? I mention this because it's the explosion of the crowd that gives me chills every time it replay it. Now imagine with nearly twice that number when the Red-White-and-Blue net one?!

i would be surprised if this doesnt sell out. almost 20k for a womens game and the way we drew for the home opener. this had better sell out. in fact, bring in the temporary stands like they had for the olympics and lets tack on another 25k.
that would be sick :p

i really do think this will sell out though. glad i got my tix. e32

I did see a guy in a Costa Rica jersey last Saturday. US fans won't be the only ones making noise.

Buy tickets early and often. If you don't, the Ticos will.

Let's make Rice Eccles like Portland was in '97; 95% pro-US.

I'm in E32.

Do we want to hit up Carsmart for a big US flag for E32?

I think that the guy from New Jersey is bringing his big US flag. And the Don't Tread On Me Rattler is cool, too.

But you can't have too many big flags. Carsmart could use it at their lot on other days.

Sounds like the tickets are going quick. A thread on bigsoccer sounds like the US Supporter's sections (S1 and S2) are gone already. I hope we pack the place and it's all pro-US fans so we get plenty of qualifiers in the future.

Only 46 days!
