Crapids lose...
Chivas is really going to suck. I don't understand why people keep hiring Rongen...
Evidently 12,408 was the number of tickets that Metros distributed for the game but only about 1,000 showed up.

San Jose: 8,730

Average for Saturday’s matches = 11,095, although this is not typical because I factored in Metros 1,000 attendance.

Assuming good weather at Saturday’s match and a draw of 10,000 for the game, the average for all 6 MLS matches would have been: 12,595.

Rice/Eccles capacity

I stopped by the RSL Front Office at Trolley Corners on Saturday. The were open and everyone was very busy getting ready for the season. I bought another RSL T-Shirt and a hat.

I asked about the capacity of the soccer seating configuration at Rice Eccles stadium and was told that the capcity is 24,500.

There is a good chance that we can sell out the 24,500 seats for the home opener. This would be more likely if we can thump LA on saturday. Has anyone heard if Donovan is still sick or is he expected to play?

Only 1,000? I guess they weren't hiding in the Giants Stadium concourses like I thought . . .

San Jose has bled attendance for several years now, despite having very good teams and winning two MLS Cups. I lived in Monterey a few years ago and attended games at Spartan Stadium regularly. It's small and a little old but it is a great place to watch a game--close to the action, great FO, entertaining soccer.

It will be a real shame if the team folds or moves. It's a cautionary tale, though. The South and East Bay, where they draw most of their fans, are hotbeds of youth soccer. It just hasn't translated into attendance for the Quakes.

1000? From the looks of the stands, I would've guessed about 50. There were some RSL fans there too! I think RSL had as many fans present as the Metros did. 🙂

I heard he is supposed to be ready to play Saturday. It should be a good test for our D. Hopefully we can pull out a 3-2 squeaker.

Checketts was on KSL this morning with Doug Wright.

He said last night they were selling tickets over the phone for the home opener at a rate of 80 tickets an hour.

I also read in the paper I think that we are now over 4,000 season tickets sold.

Giddy up.

Steve told us the same thing yesterday at the announcement. That's pretty good because on Sat we were told that they had sold about 3500 tickets which means that they have sold 500 tickets in the last few days, despite the loss on Sat. I can't wait to see the stadium full Sat.

Here's a post on BS that made me laugh.

We'll have to hold him to his word when we probably almost double his 16k prediction. :D

Hmm... I think that for an cRapids fan to taunt RSL is like me taunting Al Gore about how well I run the internet. Pointless and illogical. What did they get opening day... 7,000? Wow, I think we probably have sold more season tickets than that by now. :p
