I can't wait to see Countess trying to save a shot on goal by the blue ribbon hog named 'Donnovan the Pigganator'.

In real life though, Anderson complains about the Sandy stadium being too far from the bars and night spots but the Fairpark is in the middle of a residential area as well. It reminds me, in a very very bad way, of Franklin-Covey field. They said it would 'revitalize' the neighborhood and it has done nothing for it! Either have it in proper downtown or put it in a commuter friendly place... not some half measure 'the land is free' 'what's that smell, oh yeah, the pigs...' place.

You guys make it sound like its in St George. According to my map, its 1.5 miles from Temple Square.

Would you prefer Murray or Sandy?

It is only 1.5 miles from Temple Square but it is on the other side of the tracks (literally) and across I-15 in a section of town that looks as suburban as midvale/muray. The atmosphere of the Fairgrounds is not 'downtown' even though it is close on the map.

I don't have a preference of Murray over Sandy. I'd have to see the sites. Of course, Sandy does have the MAYA!

As mentioned previously, the fairgrounds are not part of down town. So it falls into the category of suburbs. It doesn't have TRAX, and the parking isn't the greatest... especially if they have to tear out lots to fit the stadium on that site. I don't think it's a good fit at all. I'd rather see Sandy or Murray develop a new area for the stadium than try to fit one into the old, run down, crime infested, dirty North Temple site.

By my count, this is the 15,001 post! 🙂

I'm not really fond of a fairpark stadium either. I can't decide if that would be better or worse than Sandy. That area seems pretty rundown. If the stadium has to go in a suburban area, I'd much rather have it in an area like Sandy I think. Hopefully, it can go downtown, but if not my second choice would be Murray and hopefully they can build that up like they did around the E-Center in West Valley. Then I guess it would be a toss-up between Sandy and the fairpark. Sandy is farther from downtown, but a nicer area. The fairpark is closer to downtown but that area of town is all that great with absolutely nothing else going on there.

In the end, I'll go wherever it ends up though.

However, TRAX will eventually run right by the fairgrounds as it makes it was out to the airport and with the building of the stadium there it may even speed up the construction of TRAX to the West Side. Plus, the parking could easily be improved.

I think the Fairgrounds is a pefect location also due to its in the heart of the Latino community, this could spark some developement out there which is needed, and its no more than a minute or two drive into downtown.

[ Residents want to see more activities at the fairgrounds, but would want the parking and noise - from games and the concerts planned for the stadium - to be addressed.
"Residents have complained about the loudness of the [existing] concerts," ]

That is one of the biggest issues. This is a residential area! I see that there are a lot of people here that think this is a decent sight. Why? I personally don't see any advantages to this sight other than money (mind you that is in the short-term, and I think the prospect of a stadium going downtown would provide more money in the long-term).
My picks would be:
Downtown (although it is sounding less and less likely)

Sandy (after this it has grown on me)

Murray (not sure why this has fallen and Sandy has moved up, guess I too can flipflop)

Fairpark (this is only because I have heard of no other options)

I have the same list...though it is being panned a bit, there is a lot more food/entertainment/bars near the proposed Sandy location than Murray or Fairpark...I will say this for Fairpark though, while we may be able to attract more of the West-side with that location, we may lose those who believe it to be the "wrong-side-of-the-tracks"...

Tough choices to make...but at least we are talking about 3 viable options rather than 1 (see Harrison, NJ) so it is less likely we will have to deal with non-stop political bs.

But on the other hand, some of these "Community Activists" produce some Comedy Gold even better than 1640 AM's.

I'll have to see if that Carson resident's quote of "Soccer people are the worst people in the world" is still around. And the predictions that Victoria Street would cause Millwall-style violence.

Carson is located right next to Compton, as in NWA's Straight Outta Compton. And the Galaxy is doing OK at the box office.

Yeah, Rose Park. Very dangerous. Don't you remember how Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from there and how Lori Hacking was murdered there?

Those panning the Maya, including myself, see the restaurant as big whoopla with crummy food. Also, it's a good running joke. :p

I agree that the Sandy location has a lot of great stuff around. Even just down the street near the Southtowne Mall are two of my favorite restaurants... Sweet Tomatoes and Mimi's Cafe. I would stop off there after everygame if I had the monies.

The 'wrong-side-of-the-tracks' folks probably includes me simply because the Fairground is my least favorite choice. However, if they put it there I will go there with no reservations. It is close (in distance, not in nature) to downtown and thus probably very accessible to the UC'er that I am.

Just my random thoughts on the matter.
