FYI. I wrote the following to James Edwards to hopefully clear some things up, because I feel that, while good intentioned, it wasn't accurate. Don't worry, I made sure to indicate that I DIDN'T speak for the Loyalists.
Quote:
James,

First of all, I appreciate the coverage the Deseret News has given to RSL throughout the season. The media's coverage of soccer in SLC is a huge help in spreading the "good word" that is soccer.

With that said, I would like to comment on the Endlines section of today's article written by you entitled "RSL anxious to pick up win". It should also be noted that I'm acting as a lone Loyalist in this message, and it shouldn't be taken as speaking for the entire Loyalists Supporters Group, which is the purview of the Loyalist officials. I feel that your method of conveying what the Loyalists plan to do if RSL "accomplishes" the feat of breaking the "longest scoreless streak" record, is somewhat misleading, which I'm likely to believe was unintentional.

First of all, the acts described are by no means indicative - at least not at this juncture - of a consensus move by the Loyalists group as a whole. There are differences of opinion in enacting any type of plan if this landmark is achieved. No "directive", that I'm aware of, has come down from the officials of the supporters group in support of any plan of action, or lack of plan. Therefore, to imply that these acts are being planned by the entire Loyalists group is misleading.

Second of all, it is my opinion, that in marking these events, we are doing so - not so much as a sign of displeasure (though there are some that do feel this way), nor as a way of humiliating or demeaning the team - but rather to mark, with intelligence, the milestone. The streamers show that we are knowledgeable of the moment it occurs, and that it is a black moment indeed, and the moment of silence is to further demonstrate that it's a sad time for our beloved RSL club. What was written, in my opinion, didn't seem to convey that at all, but rather conveyed the message that we, as a supporters group, were showing, for those moments a lack of support for our team - which is certainly not the case.

Again, thanks for your wonderful coverage of the team many in SLC have come to know and love - and hope to be able to do so for a lifetime.

Sorry I'm going to quote myself again :D .

I think too many people are taking this way too seriously and getting their panties in a bind. I think the whole point of this exercise was to keep us from doing exactly that.

I think Aerick's email to James hits on the head.
If some fans want to do this fine. But this isn't an official Loyalist event.

Also, I agree with RSLfrontrowfan, we are getting a little too excited about this.

Lets focus on the real point of this thread. when will RSL get its next goal!!!

On a light note

We should be saving some of this energy for tonight. Look what donovan said about the match.

Galaxy seek payback against RSL

"It's a team we should beat," said Landon Donovan. "Here, there, it doesn't matter. It's a good way to put the road thing behind us to be honest, and we need to do it."

I think that if The Loyalists decide to not do this that they stop using the term "supporters club" in their name and replace it with "fan club". The two are very different things, and from everything I have seen so far (granted, I don't see all the posts to this forum becuase I use the ignore list function) the Loyalists are more of a fan club than a supporters club. Not that one is better than the other, but I think it should be called what it is to avoid arguments like this one in the future.

I really hope that landycakes gets to take a corner on the north east side. My voice is great, 110%, and he needs to get yelled at. It might be very therapeutic for us, as well.

First of all, I had not read the other thread when I made my comments. I just spent forever just now reading it, and Glenn supports the streamers, so I guess it is a Loyalists thing. I was wrong.

Second of all, since this is something the Loyalists will be doing, and I do not agree with it, I will either go sit somewhere else or not attend the game tonight.

Thanks for the support, Aero, but I'm willing to be silenced by the loud minority. Who knows? Maybe it's the majority.

Too bad I am attending the game alone. I'll be sitting somewhere all by my lonesome. Thanks for the support, Aero, but I'm willing to be silenced by the loud minority.

I think that shows everyone exactly how cool you are! If I had rep to spend right now it would go to you. I hope everyone else reps you as well.

I will move and sit with you during the appointed hour. (Let's just hope it never actually comes. Come on Jamie! Don't let us down now!)
