Her campaign billboards amused me. I'm not laughing anymore.

Why do I keep coming back to the idea that if this were any other sport, people wouldn't be as resistant to the idea of a new stadium?

Feel free to prove me wrong, but I just can't get over that idea for some reason.

Stadium building is always a big issue, regardless of the sport or city.

Add the possibility of public funding (which I believe would be a big mistake), and it turns into a fiasco.

Did you all see this little gem tucked into the side of that RES article?

The Major League Soccer team and the city are working on an agreement for the team to lease 5.7 acres the city owns at 2005 W. 500 South for two to three years or until RSL builds a permanent stadium and training facility.

Yes, and that is fantastic. No trips to Centerville for our soccer stalking fix.

An answer to the "Will Coach E Start Jamie" question!

RSL coach John Ellinger encourages fans to be patient.
"I think Jamie has given us a great spark," said Ellinger. "Do I think he can do that for 90 minutes? No. Otherwise I'd start him."
Watson is still just a teenager, and his starting opportunity will come. For now, however, Ellinger is inclined to stick with Dante Washington and Clint Mathis at forward, while continuing to utilize Watson as a super sub.

So in other words, we’re going to see if he can pull us out of a hole every time.

My fellow southern Californians didn't pay for the Galaxy's stadium (The Goat Pen?) and they broke a blood vessel laughing when Paul Tagliabue suggested some tax money for a Numerous Felons League stadium for the LA Freeway Shooters NFL expansion team.

The Staples Center, home to the beloved Lakers (well, they were the beloved Lakers until this season) was 99% privately funded.

There's a reason why my mom sold a 50-year-old, 3 bedroom, 2 tiny bathroom house in a College Ghetto for $450,000.

Southern Californians do lots of stupid things, but closing schools and fire stations and giving the money thereby saved to millionaires & billionaires is not one of them.
