I read that this morning but didn't post it cos I promised I wouldn't post any more links to articles, on this thread, until RSL or MLS announced it officially!
the article said that there were details to be worked out but an announcement should be made next week!
Quote:
MLS could announce his signing as early as next week, as sources said negotiations were still ongoing.

I think this is a great article to end this thread:

Mathis says he is coming to RSL for one reason: John Ellinger.
Good to know that the guy with potential coach problems loves his new coach.

I don't really know anything about Mathis' past but I have loved hearing all the talk about him on here. He sounds like the kind of player that will really wake up the fans and make the media take notice. He might even be more fun when he's NOT doing well...

I loved John Ellinger's quote from the above article:

"I've always liked players who have some personality that they can bring to the field."

Personality doesn't seem to be much of an issue for Mathis, eh?

I had to dig, but here is DN's Mathis article for today:

I think SL Trib will be more useful for us. As it seems no matter how hard Edwards tries, DN just doesn't want to publish any non-Jazz, non-BYU sports material.

Actually, Edward's Mathis story was on Page 1 of the Sports section of the print edition this morning.

Good to hear. However, on the website it was buried 20 links deep.

That is a great article... I love coach Ellinger's answer to "is Mathis a down to earth guy?"
Coach Ellinger: "It depends on which earth you're talking about."

*Hates seafood but loves Sushi! (O...K...?)
*He has a bulldog named Tank.
*His all-time favorite movie is "Dumb and Dumber."

Impressions of New York City "the greatest city on the planet . . . well, at least for a single guy."

Great stuff!
