Jamie's red card... |

I thought Jamie's foul was funny. It reminded me of something I would have done myself. 😉
The comments on the officiating were right on too. Two Saturdays in a row, we've watched things escalate because the referees couldn't get control of the game. What does MLS pay these people to do?

Or the Clint Mathis of the league. Come on, you're talking about a 19 yr old here. Maybe there's another thread out there about Mathis and his mouth. Now he should know better. How many times has he been suspended this year???

How many cards has he gotten for complaining to the refs? What is this, a slam on Watson thread because he got a red card? While we're on the subject, he has only scored once. While we're on the subject, he whine's too much and furthermore.... Didn't Dunseth get a red for a similar action at the beginning of the year? You guys need to let up on the youngster. He's still learning the game. Slam the leaders of the team when they get em.

I'll second that motion, let's leave him alone, not 5 weeks a go we were all praising him for his effort and passion, you can't have it both ways. No one complained at Dunseth, Eddie Pope, Seth, you name it there are players all season who have missed games through bad decisions on the pitch. It's a part of footbal, and it's OK, he'll learn. I for one like Jamie as a person and a player. He has worked harder than most players on this team, particularly through a period of games when most others getting paid big dollars (not the paultry amount Jamie gets) couldn't be bothered to show up for a game let alone play a full 90 minutes. Oh and bu the way, the full squad will pay his fine for him, because as silly and pointless a foul as it was, they appreciated his effort and his team ethic, he was looking after his team mates who were getting the raw end of the game. It may have been a silly decision, an unwise or even a reckless decision, but poor decision aside, his motivation was just fine and give me a motivated player any day of the week and twice on Saturdays.

I will ask a different question then? Wouldn't it be better to have a veteran play the role of hard man? We had no question been getting some raw deals, but shouldn't somebody have done something earlier? In my defense, I was the lone voice calling for him to be a sub rather than a starter. __________________

That's absolutely a part of the problem. Why didn't a vet stand up? Broom had a good showing on that, where was Eddie Pope? Where were the other guys? Well, Seth was off suspended, sitting with Mathis .. also suspended. At least he stepped up. I'm just saying let's not over react to his efforst however poorly directed.

Wow....I could go on and on but I'll try and keep it short and sweet.
Jamie deserved the card.....I never said it was "pretty brutal" but I did say it was intentional and needed to be carded. That doesn't mean I blame Jamie. He has been beat up constantly and never gets any calls. Yes, he whines. If I got elbow after elbow to the face, I would whine too. He is an extremely passionate player. He sparks the field EVERY time he comes in. Yes, he's only gotten one goal, but he never gives up. When he loses a ball, he doesn't "walk" away, he fights for it.....EVERY TIME. I wish we saw that with every player on our team. He's a rookie. I see him only getting better. He needs to get the temper in check maybe the card will help him do that. The foal was a repeat of Dunny's (damn boards).....I don't see anyone bashing the crap out of him.....and he's a veteran. Officiating SUCKS........the Refs have NO control. I had a friend who went to her first game with her family last night and the first thing she said to me after the game is "Does the officiating always suck this bad?"....Its sad that it stands out that bad. It takes away from a beautiful game....

Ummm... he did sub in this game. What's your point? Besides that you don't like him? Or that you probably wanted him to sub in late in the games to give the $100,000+ players a spark and to get them off their cans and wake up. That's really no defense. I was saying that I wasn't one of the chorus singing his praises and then turning on him. The kid is a rookie and plays like it. He is more valuable off the bench than starting. No one can accuse me of not liking the kid and having a clue what they are talking about. As an individual, he is one of my favorites, as a player, he is not productive enought to warrant a starting role. Unfortunatley for the club, not enough veterans have stepped up to make it possible to bring him along as he develops rather than forcing him to the pitch because we have no other realistic options. Don't attack me when you don't know me, or what I think. __________________
