This matchup will always be a big one, for too many reasons to list. But this particular game doesn't mean as much as it might have if qualification was really on the line. I does mean bragging rights--and even that's in doubt until Mexico can match 2002. You know, who wins when it matters the most. And that's been the USA in the two games in series history that took place on a world stage (1934, 2002). They've got the big series lead, but we've got Rome and Jeonju.
What the 3 September matchup DOES have is the "winner qualifies" factor, although it's hard to imagine either team not qualifying in the next game or two. And Mexico did take their end of the home-away series already, so I'm sure both teams want to send a message with this one. These are the undisputed heavyweights of the region so that's reason enough to pay attention. But it's also yet another reason to combine CONCACAF and CONMEBOL for a Super-Region of the Americas. Both the USA and Mexico would be better prepared--and more tested--by matching up with the big teams from South America in qualification. But for now, this is the big one. And it's USA all the way for me. __________________

So, KC, are you a Lavolpista or a Hugoista?

I'll go with Lavolpe, he has a much better vocabulary and even though he is not the big star Hugo is, I think what the mexican soccer needs is continuity, in order to get some better results. then again that's just me! LOL Hugo is an idol here, but he defenitly needs some behavior lessons! Anyway, I can't wait to see the roster for the match against USA. I'll let u know as soon as I know!! :dancing: | |||||

The possibility remains it could show up live on ESPN Classic or the Fox Soccer Channel.
