Since the Argentines already took the really cool names like"the candy box" and "the elephant cemetery", how about something really Utahn, like "THE ICE CREAM CONE"? Let's have some originality and distinguish ourselves from the boring crass commericalization of professional sports! (Oh, yeah, they help pay the bills.)

Name Game Hey, I'd love a pure, non-commercial field, but money talks, so realistically, who do you think might step up with a sponsorship? Something local, like 1-800-CONTACTS Field? Something national that's also omnipresent locally, like, say Wells Fargo Stadium? Any thoughts?

Can't be any worse than Chicago SSS's potential name owner.
Waste Management. Thank goodness the Bank of Bridgeview won out, for the sake of all that is holy.

If it gets us one of Earl Holding's downtown blocks, I would be fine with Sinclair or Little America Stadium or Field.

Random moment of the day:
I was listening to 105.3 FM on the way home tonight and I heard a panel discussion of candidates for District 1 in Salt Lake City for a position (I didn't find out what it was, city council?). anyhow. They were asked about the Stadium and the Fairpark. Here are their answers, as best as I can remember them: * The owners of the team said that their priorities were downtown and retail. Apparently neither of those were satisfied by the Fairpark. * I don't know enough about stadiums and financing to comment. * It was a discrimination thing. We are on "the wrong side of the tracks" and we didn't get a chance. Especially once the RDA funds were nixed. * I didn't want it here anyways. I already have too much traffic and too much noise. I don't want it. * We missed out on a great opportunity to move up our TRAX timetable, improve our tax revenue, revitalize the area, and be a part of something big. Mayor Anderson didn't step up to the plate to bat for us like I thought he should have. Anyhow, I thought those were interesting thoughts about the stadium being at the Fairpark, or not, as the case turns out to be. Apparently not just fans of RSL care about the stadium.

Could be Chevron? They've been very supportive. It really takes a national brand with $5-10 million or so.
