Good comments! From what we've heard in the past, and from some of the comments in the articles, it would seem that the politicians pretty much forced it to go to Sandy.

It doesn't hurt my feelings to have it in Sandy. Thats a lot closer for me.

I think the major advantage to having it in Sandy is that there is much more room. In downtown, I think they would have had about half the space to work with.

Mainly, I'm just very glad to have the decision made.

I'm excited about Sandy. I think the location is fantastic, right by two freeway entrances and close to restaurants and the expo center. Downtown would have been cool too and I would have been excited for that. But that's not happening so I'm excited about Sandy.

Okay, so a site has been picked. PLEASE, PLEASE, design the stadium to look and feel like a SSS. Don't place a huge eye-sore of a stage at one of the stadium. a la Frisco. Enclose the entire field with seats, make one side retractable. Don't screw this up!!!!

Isn't it weird that this article came out yesterday?
Another downtown site emerges for RSL's stadium

Sounds like someone wants to sell their property, not help RSL.

So far RSL seems to be planning a stadium in the 25,000 range, which is larger than Frisco. It seems that they would need to entirely enclose it if thats the capacity RSL wants.

Maybe I'm thinking of a different area, but is there honestly anything to do down there? All I can think of is Jordan Commons, and I try at all costs to never give any more money to Larry Miller.

Oh well, I guess I'll get over it. We're getting a stadium!

Checketts and the city of Sandy (and their pet Senator) have mentioned that Sandy is a good location for the SSS because of more space for development.

My understanding is that Checketts wants to build things that will cater to his soccer consumers. I am positive that a soccer-related pub, restaurants for soccer fans and families and soccer-branded retail will surely be part of his greater agenda.

There are a lot of restaurants about a mile south by the South Towne Mall and 106th south exit. Sweet Tomatoes, Mimi's, etc.

Try this link: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=94th+south+I-15+Sandy+Utah&ll=40.572371,-111.888285&spn=0.027561,0.054957&hl=en

The stadium site we're expecting is right to the left of where the two big yellow roads go together at 94th south and state street. If you go across the street, you get several restaurants at and by Jordan Commons, and if you go south on State you hit all the restaurants at the mall.
