I LOVE the Sandy location. I would have preferred downtown over Sandy by only a very slim margin - so I'm still really happy about this decision. That area has lots going for it:
- Major mall and chain stores (Target, Barnes & Nobles, Gart Sports, etc.) - Tons of restaurants nearby (even a couple for those fed on silver spoons) - Trax - 2 freeway exits - Movie theaters - Lots of room for development of soccer fan specific businesses! - I live nearby 🙂 - It'll only be 5 minutes longer to drive for our norther contingent. - It'll be probably 20 minutes shorter to drive for our southern contingent. - Large soccer population - Potential soccer fields for playing/practicing on? (This would be a better option for the LCFC team than it's current West Jordan location) - Cheaper land so the team can build more on the structure(s) and/or have more land. Plus the argument that it should now be called "Real Sandy" isn't a vaild one anymore due to the fact that it's still in Salt Lake County, and can thus easily be called Real Salt Lake! As far as I know it has never been referred to as Real Salt Lake City. In fact, the more I think about it, the more Sandy makes sense over a downtown location. It seems that the only real things downtown had going for it was the ambiance of being downtown, and the accessibility of nightlife. The ambiance would have been nice, but is it really THAT much more important than all of the above factors? Accessibility of night life may only end up catering to less than half of the fan-base. Whereas a Sandy location with it's options would end up catering to more than half of you fan-base (soccer moms and dads and their kids). At least from my perspective. Parking downtown may have ended up being a nightmare. __________________

Let's hope Steve P. and Co. find some really cool local concessionaires. I'd pay a little more for something from Squatters or Red Iguana (or the Other Place 😉 .)

I also give you Tiburon (8200 South 700 East), which in my humble opinion is the best restaurant in the Valley... (from another food snob)

Thanks. I know this may be hard to believe, but the weather is not a big deal to us. In fact, we like a cold winter. And yes, we've lived in cold weather places before. I went to high school in Utah myself, so I know what we're in for. Look, I'm on a subtropical island right now and I'd rather be in Utah. Looking forward to much more participation with the team and club. Season tickets will soon be on order. __________________
