Post-meeting discussion [R]

[SoccerPrime]

So Erik Scott won't be re-signing with MLS/RSL? Is that confirmed?
Anyone else from the expansion draft that hasn't signed? I heard Rusty Pierce hadn't signed either.

Who is the new big sponsor of the Loyalists?

Any news on Marlon Rojas of Trinidad signing?

How many ppl were there?

[montgjules]

Didn't MontgJules take notes again? Oh wait...

I'm not very pleased with all these cryptic posts. It reminds me of grade school:

"Alicia told me a secret but I can't tell you. It's really cool, though!"
"Was the secret about Bobby?"
"Yeeeesssss...."
"Is it about Bobby and ME?"
"Nooooo...."

I suggest that somebody write up a report and email it to the Loyalists email group with all the information intact. That information was made available to the Loyalists, so share it with the Loyalists. If they had definitely not wanted it known at all, they wouldn't have said a word or would have specifically said, "You didn't hear this from me" or "Don't share this."

What about the rest of the meeting? Did you talk t-shirts? Banners and opening day festivities? Come on people! Talk! 😉

[SoccerPrime]

Yeah, you better have discussed shirts! Loyal1 promised!

[Deuce]

I sent Prime, Jules and Jose a PM to explain the 'cryptic' messages.
I don't know who else is a "paid up loyalist" for sure so I am going to pass on any further requests for clarification.
If you want to know more you will have to ask Loyal1!
I am sure you will be given the info if you are a loyalist or asked to join if you are not!

Thanks.

I am not sure why this stuff is secret. Why would Pastorino and friends tell you guys at a public meeting and not expect it to get out? Did RSL ask you guys not to tell?

I don't really know for sure... I definitely got the impression that it was being told in confidence... Maybe I got the wrong impression but from some of the posts here I was not the only one that got that impression!

:o

[Deuce]

Oh yeah! Steve Pastorino said that they will be looking to sign at least one more big name player before the season starts.
when pressed, he did not ellaborate on who they are looking at signing.

S.P. also said that Murray has put forth a very attractive proposal and that they are still waiting for Salt Lake to put one forth. He said that Dave Checketts wants a downtown stadium but will weigh both proposals carefully.
The announcement will most likely not come in the next few weeks, Pastorino said.

[SoccerPrime]

So a big name player IS coming, but no one knows who.

RSL WILL announce a stadium site, but NOT any time soon.

Thanks Deuce :D

The only reason I hesitated on telling who the big-name player was that we didn't sign is that Pastorino started by saying "I guess I don't mind telling this group this..." which to me meant he didn't want everyone to know. I don't want to betray that trust if that's what he meant.

The reason I didn't say what player had talked about the US National situation is that if that gets around he could sound like a traitor to the other players, no? I'm not trying to sound cool by not telling the secrets, I just want to protect those involved.

Last night I actually forgot to write about a few things:

1. Steve Pastorino REALLY impressed me by saying that we won't have "jock-rock" in the stadium, gimmicks, etc. He said the cheering and singing should be organic and come naturally from the fans. I agree wholeheartedly. I hope that means no cheerleaders too (should have asked).

2. The Cup brought a copy of the Bouncing Souls song "Olé" (you can hear a clip in the "Songs and Chants" forum) and we listened to it. I think it would be a perfect song to sing at every game.

3. We talked about shirts breifly. Sounds like red is the color we will go with, and I think Loyal1 is going to pick a design and get them going.

4. We may have a big banner or something come opening day, it depends on getting this big sponsorship. Don't blame me for being cryptic here, they wouldn't tell us anything about this one!

[SoccerPrime]

Thanks Czar and Deuce. Any information is good information.

As for the USMNT situation, lets all just hope it gets resolved, today.

BTW I think the design for the Loyalist shirt is McKid's avatar picture. Check it out in the Membership list.
