Optimistically speaking, this is good because she refuses to go to games so I only spend 1/2 as much on tics? :slobber:

Well, the very first game was that monsoon, so I figured I'd cut him some slack.

Goodwill began to vanish the first time I had to watch 90 minutes of us sending vertical balls at Jason Kreis.

Did you really just call me out? By the way, how's your team doing in the "beautiful chateau in Macon" league? Ready for the UEFA Cup yet? After a whole week of play you guys should be good to go.

If you consider a difference of 6 points to be "much better", then I guess you're right. But honestly I agree with you - the team is better this year. Unfortunately everybody else got 'more better' than RSL (as evidenced by our six extra points but being lower in the western conference standings).

As far as the LA game goes, I'll be optimistic and predict a 2-2 tie. The reason: We don't have an answer for Primadonovan. Of LA's 5 goals against us, Donovan has scored or assisted 4 of them (the other being the goal where Gardner scored, assisted by Garlick). And with Donovan fit and playing well (2 goals vs. DC), I don't see us containing him.

Actually, that wasn't intended to be a call out. I just wanted to know if you had a difference of opinion.

The whole Macon thing was obviously a joke but in the vein of "nun-ya" as my daughters would say. But in that light, I discovered in my time in France that a soccer fan in the US often has a broader soccer knowledge and skill than the average person in France. I guess kind of like the average person in the US has a general understanding of the game of baseball, but really couldn't tell you the starting lineup of the home team. Beside, I find the French Ligue to be quite boring especially compared to La Liga Primara in Spain.

You're right that it will be difficult to contain LD especially with our woes in the center part of our defence. Is there any word on when Torres will return? Still I see a high scoring affair. Kreis scores on and a beautiful assist on another. RSL 4-2 LAG.

I'm trying to be optimistic about you, I really am. But I have no clue what you're saying here.

As far as the average French soccer fan, most men in France can tell you the starting lineup of the RESERVE team of their local club before they can tell you the date of their wife's birthday.

Wasn't my experience. But I'm happy that you think you can tell me what I expienced. Still, I don't want to talk about me any more.

What do you think of RSL chances tonight?

I started to reply to this same post, but bordy said it so much better than I ever could have. I just want to say that if blowmynose has a just a week of experience in France we can forgive the ignorance, even if it is pretty bold to proclaim a knowledge of what "most men in France" know or don't know.

I wasn't trying to tell you what you were thinking; only that it was wrong.

I think your picture of the average person in France is wrong. Edit: I posted something here that later was someone pointed out was completely miss leading. I think the world of the people I was playing with in France but my heart broke at how young they were put to work, thus soccer was not a "suburban" kind of game for them. Please forgive me if I hurt any feelings.

Second, unlike America the Average person in France takes a broad range of sports in school, but doesn't play in organized sports league. Only the above average athletes play organized fut (as they call it on the streets).

Next, you have to realize that the American and German girls that were at this camp were the only girls that could give a leap about sports. The French girls were mostly concern with makeup and jewelry beyond what you would know in the US. Again, the average guy was also much more interested in arranging meetings with the average french girls than playing the sport.

If you want to continue this discussion, I'm going to kick you butt in this area. You may (possibly) have more soccer knowledge, but this sort of sociology is very much a part of my professional training. I can start digging up studies but don't call me out in this area. I spend a lot of time with youth from all over the world, especially France, Italy and Spain.
