Screw that. The players do owe me something. I am sitting there screaming until i am hoarse, having to explain soccer to all the dumb asses i work with, supporting a front office who seems to work against the fans, trying to support a stadium deal that never seems to be done. What do I expect in return? Some of the players to throw me a frickin bone now and then. What are they out by coming to our section? ZERO! It may take a minute after the game. Literally a minute. Do the players pay for their jerseys? Would it hurt them to toss one to us every now and then? For me RSL has been like a family and when my family members never clean up the dishes, or take out the trash or do anything for me, when i do a lot for them, well then that family member sucks.
I love RSL, I love the team, but give the fans some respect. Especially the fans that are going out of their way to supprt the team, like the Loyalists, RCB, etc. __________________

The majority of it is a group effort. We've got the drums so it seems we kind of dictate the songs. There are a few the SEs don't join in for. The Barra specific stuff and a couple others. For the most part it is a group effort. The smoke is all in the Barra section.

The players owe you something? Exactly what do they owe you? A shirt? A jersey? A boot? A handshake? A look? Why don't you just say what you want and then someone can spoonfeed you your "owed" action. Only then you'll be pissed because it was scripted and not organic. Please. While we're on the subject, what do they owe me? I may have yelled louder than you this year. Or what about the guy next to me who not only yelled, but banged a cowbell. And what about the handicapped kid in the corner who didn't yell as loud but cares more than all of us. As long as you're owed something, then I guess the rest of us are as well. If I was a player reading your post, I'd mail you my wallet with a note that says, "Since I owe you something, take what you want and then send it back." What is it that you want? Because what they owe you for your ticket is a game. They play it and you watch it. If you don't feel that they are giving their all and it's not good enough for you, then stop going. If you feel they are, in fact, busting their butts trying to win, then keep going. But for the price of admission, that is all you are guaranteed. They owe you.....wow.

I'm almost afraid to admit it, but I agree with Mr. "no, seriously...hockey is great!" Real offers a product, and we pay to see it. Really, once you start to look outside of that business model, you get yourself in trouble. The fans, especially those of a more "hardcore" nature, can indeed be a marketing tool for the organization. But none of us (at least not me) are paid for the effort, or are officially part of the staff. If we do "favors" for RSL and expect favors in return, really it's just wishful thinking. Obviously it would be nice to have a "thank you" every so often, but certainly not requisite in any way. When I tell MY idiot friends about the greatness that is soccer, it's because I'm genuinely excited about the sport, not because I think that by doing so I'll get to give Jason Kreis a high-five at a game.

I disagree, for many of the same reasons already posted. The basic transaction is the right to view (ticket price) a quality entertainment (soccer match). If you are not getting your money's worth, then stop buying. Some people define quality based on winning percentage (they are the ones that make attendance rise and fall season to season). Some define quality based on perception of effort. Some define quality based on all of the surrounding facilities and events and fundamentally solid professionalism on the field. Some define quality based on the apparent importance of the contest for the future of the club (making attendance rise and fall game to game). Some may well define quality based on personal interactions with the players. Maybe you are unaware of the number of players who make appearances at the autograph alley after every game (I don't know, maybe they get paid small stipends to do that).

i guess one of the main reasons i expected something a little extra this game was that it was touted as fan appreciation night .... what exactly made it different from other games though?

Don't even get me started on the beanies... we went into the stadium at like 6:05 so we could get one, but they were all gone. At every single entrance. I saw lots of vendors wearing them though.

I try to stop by there after each game and congratulate the players as they leave, or wish them better luck in the next match (sure beats sitting in my car for 1/2 hour waiting to get out of the parking lot!). Do they hurry out the exit? No! They stop and sign autographs for anyone that wants one. They deffinately don't get paid extra for that, and are not required to do that (I don't think Clint ever did last year). You want some recognition for your efforts as a fan? Most players will thank you then, up close and in person, for your support of the team.
