Result 1-0 and we have our very first win in franchise history and it is against that hated of all liefeforms the scum that resides on the wrong side of the Rockies.
Man of the Match Dunseth. He scored the game winner. Up until that point I had my MOTM going to the entire backline but since Dunny scored he gets singled out. I was very impressed with the back line especially Rusty Pierce he helped get the clean sheet in the last couple of minutes with great defensive play. So is Mathis gone for the next match since he has back to back games with Yellow cards. Cleatus must have slept with that Ref's daughter because that was the weakest yellow card infraction I have ever witnessed. I can't wait until our front line gets used to each other and we start netting more goals. I am very proud to consider myself a ReAl Salt Lake fan today. Awesome result. __________________

The defense was certainly the key today. We had a very strong defense. Pierce was outstanding. He saved a sure goal toward the end. Pope was great, so was Rojas.
Ellinger's changes reaped rewards. I was right in the middle of the Loyalist section so it was a very different perspective from watching a match on TV. I didn't see half of the match because I was busy looking at my song notes to determine which song was next. I actually missed the goal because it was right after they announced the attendance and I was asking what he said when the ball went into the net. I look forward to watching it a little later. There were several pockets of pseudo-Loyalists all over the stadium. Sometimes they would start a song and we would chime in other times we would start and the rest would chime in. I ran into Mckid after the match and he said there was a point in the first half where we started a song and the whole stadium joined in unison. He said it gave him chills. Great day for football in Utah. I love Dave Checketts. Long live Real! The big story is: Attendance = 25,287; second biggest so far in MLS this year. It's hard not to be falling in love with the play of Rusty Pierce. He was my MOTM for the first 80 minutes for sure. Not that his last 15 minutes were bad -- au contraire -- Dunseth just stole the show w/ the goal and a nice clearance of his own.
Interesting that Fitzpatrick actually has his nickname, "Tiger" on his jersey. Mathis probably deserved the yellow card, I imagine. Probably for excessive heckling of the official. I would have to say that I sided with Mathis' side of the argument though. Nice mohawk. I think it's a better look than the "just got out of bed after 2 weeks" look that he had previously been sporting. 5 minutes of stoppage time? C'mon. Kreis was all over the place. Colorado was lucky to only lose by one, really. DJ is obviously gaining confidence. Despite sticking to his line perhaps a little more often than he should, he looked great. Colorado sucks.

Our seats ended up being spectacular for the action of the game. We sat in the Southeast corner, saw a lot of the shots and attacks that Colorado had in the first half, and then had a great view of the lone goal.
I was very impressed with the crowd, all the RSL gear I saw, and the quality of play. The one touch passes and overall control was definitely a noticable step up from the play I saw at the 2 Blitzz games I attended. This was my first MLS game, and it will not be my last. Great stuff. I know this is primarily a Loyalists message board, but I quite enjoyed the Latino Supporters group and the constant drum beat they had going. We couldn't hear much of the Loyalists' chants down at our end, but I tried a few "How wide do you want the goal?" chants. I'm also really interested to see how the fans will support the team for the rest of the year now that the celebration of the home opener has passed. But 25k+ was great! Loved it. I enjoyed every minute. Go Real!

I knew something about today would have to go wrong because it has been so great up until now. I don't know what happened, but my DVR didn't record the game. 🙁
I really wanted to watch the game tonight, but I guess that isn't going to happen. Is there anyone out there that recorded the game and might be able to help me out with a copy of it? __________________

I took some amateur video of the first five minutes, but it's not of the quality that you would want to watch it. If you want to see the still pictures I took of the game, go to http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rogerdouglass/
