What would you suggest, cookies at practice? These men are professionals. They are paid to play hard and produce results. How man pathetic displays in a row have we seen from them? Part of being a supporter is not accepting a lack of effort. If we play hard and get crushed, fine. However much of this streak is because the lads have not been giving great effort. We are about to set an MLS record for not scoring, this isn't a momentous occasion that needs to be marked?

Hiba, it is one minute. We aren't turning our backs on the team, we are marking an occasion.

The players should be proud of their fans, if anything, that we know enough about the sport to mark such an occasion. I sincerly pray we don't have to do it and all this talk is MUTE but why be afraid to voice youself as a fan? Do you not care we are about to be slapped with a label that says "MOST FUTILE TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF MLS!"? We are afterall helping pay their salaries.

Hypothetically speaking, if you were a manger of several people and they all underacheived everyday would just show up to work everyday and tell them everything is OK while pretending everything was OK? I hope you wouldn't, you wouldn't be a very successful manager if you did. What you would do is let them know they're underacheiving (EVEN IF THEY ALREADY KNOW) and state your expectations. How is that a slap in the face or being disrespectful or insulting.

Don't you think?
I personally don't like it. I really don't want to participate in it. I don't enjoy glorifying the negative. I will move to a different section when it happens so that it looks as if the whole group is doing it if that is what people want.

I told my wife about it and she didn't like it either. In fact, she decided that she didn't even want to wear her Loyalist shirt and be associated with them if they are going to do that. There are just some people that don't feel that a fan should celebrate a negative. It's not really right or wrong, just different. Some people feel that this is something they need to do and that is fine for them. I won't try and change their minds and won't respect them any less. Hopefully they will allow me the same courtesy of supporting the team in the way I feel is best without thinking any less of me either.

The difference between us and your example is that we are not their manager. We are their supporters. I'm sure that the people that do manage these guys have expressed their displeasure with their effort quite forcefully and eloquently. And if I was their manager I would do the same thing. But I'm not. So, I'll leave it up to the people that are their manager to actually take care of that kind of thing and I'll stick to cheering for them.

We will be cheering, just for 89 minutes + instead of 90 minutes +

I just sincerely hope we get an early goal so we don't have to worry about it.

We do, however, pay their salaries. No fans, no money to be made.

You and me both! Let's hope they make this entire discussion moot.

Then as I've said before, feel free to do what you feel you have/want to do. All I'm asking is that you respect those people that feel differently than you do.

I don't like it and won't participate either. I haven't heard talk of it until I read this thread. I'm assuming it was discussed in the match thread. I read those all in one bundle before the game (or it would take my entire day to click "new posts" and waiting for the link to appear....)

You can feel disappointed in your team. You can dislike the way they play. You can criticize them and point out their problems. But when game time comes, it's time to shut up and SUPPORT because you're a supporter's section. That's my opinion and I won't force anybody to agree with me, but I wanted to get my two cents in because I think it's already a humiliation that the newspaper even mentioned it's being considered. It'll be an even bigger humiliation if it happens.
