Scramble inside the 18-yard box. Real had several chances to clear the ball, but failed to do so. Eventually, a goat player whacked the ball toward goal, and it came off Kamler and into the net. The Chivas team just isn't that good. Hopefully Salt Lake can create more chances now, and try to equalize before halftime.

Mathis' goal was a classic.
Hopefully this will jump start his season.

2-1 for Chivas at halftime. For those watching this lovely match on FSN, can someone please explain to Dave Dir, it's bloody "Ray-al", not "Ree-al". You'd think he'd know how to say by now.

And now--depression.
4-1 and the rout is on. We knew it was going to take some disciplined defense since our three best are out (plus Williams), but this is ridiculous. I can only think of negatives to say so I'll just stop now. For the first time in 17 games I'm really questioning what this team is made of. __________________ Easy to be hard; hard to be smart. --Old Gunny Last edited by Rover : 07-09-2005 at 09:56 PM.

Oh, why not. 5-1.
Six point game. Against what we thought was the worst team in the league. Best chance left to win on-the-road-and-on-grass. At least we scored a goal, and the first for Mathis. No, that doesn't help. __________________

We're going to need lots of sarcasm after this one. I'll go ahead and state the obvious. This is a really bad one, and not just because we're getting whupped by cheetos. With this result I'm thinking we may have reached the culminating point with the more casual fan. They open the paper tomorrow or watch the news tonight and see we lost big--and haven't won in weeks. Anybody really want to see us served up to FCD on 23 July? And we still have the Open Cup game (away) and a game against the Wizards (a tough win at Arrowhead) to further lower expectations. Especially since we'll not get Pope back anytime soon, Pierce is doubtful for awhile, and Broome probably won't play until the 23rd anyway. How will this group turn it around? I hope I'm wrong, but it's tough to stay positive after a "game" like we saw tonight. __________________

My only consolation is that Cletus finally scored a goal. Not having Pope or Dunseth really, really, really hurt us. I think Chivas also wanted to make us look bad today. Just wait 'til we get them at Rice-Eccles, they're going down hard.
