Ellinger was hired to BUILD a winning team. He was not hired to pull a pre fab out of his a$$ on the spot.

I think we all agree that even if our team made no new acquisitions starting today,

that next season will be very different and better than this season.

Let's give this a chance to work.

After all, aren't we fans for more than just 2005?

Time, guys. Time.

"They [Chivas] got their feet wet and were able to assess their talent pool (of Latino players) and compare it with the talent pool that exists in MLS. I think as they end the year and make plans for next year, they're going to make much more realistic assessments." -- Sigi Schmid

If this is true for Chivas, its certainly true for RSL...

I don't have the coveted RSL Magic 8 ball. I knew I was missing something.

To keep it short, Mathis can't hack his new role and, unfortunately with injuries and such, can't go back to his old role. And considering he's pulling in $407k / yr or whatever, we can free up a hell of a lot of cap room to bring in someone better suited as a CM. And I really that the midfield is the core problem here. Solve that and we go from 5 wins to 8 or 9 with another tie or three and the Rapids are looking at yet another year of missing out on the playoffs.

Uh, maybe you could hook up Ellinger or someone in the FO w/ that RSL magic 8-ball. I think that they would gladly use it at this point. I mean it has to be WAY better than what they are using to make decisions now... 🙂

RSL is an expansion team and, historically, expansion teams struggle. Yes, there are exceptions to this, but I don't think there is anything wrong with Elinger or RSL. I think we have a good nucleus and the more this team and players are together, the better they will get. I would say there are a few players out there that are underperforming and they know who they are. If they don't make the grade then they're the ones that should lose their job, not Elinger. Now, if we've not made the playoffs three straight seasons, then I think we should revisit this discussion.

John and two of the coaching staff are the only consistent people there.

A. It would be a huge mistake of epic proportions
B. Snowballs chance in hell that will happen any time soon
c. I can't believe I'm talking about this

I've oftnen been frustrated and found myself questioning how much of a role the manager's had on the squad, especially in terms of organization on the pitch. As you know, they're alergic to clean sheets and seem to be on a mission to set a MLS record for most games with 5+ goals allowed). At the end of the day, jumping to a new coach simply doesn't solve the issue. We need to build a team that can play know and win the championship tomorrow. And going from coach to coach only puts more and more pressure on incoming coaches to play overly defensively, short change young players that have a lot of potential but need paitence, trade away draft picks to pick up the next band aid, et al. We definitely don't want that. Granted at some point, if things aren't working, you have to move on. But now is not the time.
