Anyhow, please enlighten me. I'd ask DadOf8, but he's taking a little cat nap before he has to head out to class.

According to Google definitions, it is this:

* million fibers per liter

* An inspection technique in which a magnetic field is applied to a pipe section and measurements are taken of the magnetic flux density at the pipe surface. Changes in measured flux density indicate the presence of a possible defect. Also called magnetic flux leakage.

I believe it refers to the Mexican Football League, but I'm not sure exactly what it stands for officially.

Time For A New Coach?

The off season is quickly approaching. For those of you that are willing to consider that the teams problems lie just as much with the tactics as anything else, what is the solution? Are these just some 1st year growing pains for Coach E as he learns how to play in the big boys sandbox? Or is it time for the team to change course with whose in charge?

We have a big thread about whether or not Ellinger should coach the team next year. Someone should find the link so prk can weigh in on that poll/thread as well.

Okay, this is just my 2 cents worth...take it or leave it. BUT....this is just a new team, true most of them maybe even all of them have played pro in the past, but when you play with people that you may not have played with in the past, it takes time getting used to their 'style'. So, I think Ellinger is doing as good as can be expected with what he was given to work with. Give the guy a chance.

Anywhooo, just my 2 cents.

Talk to me again after 3 consecutive losing seasons - IF it ever happens!

Swapping out a bunch of players and a coach each season is just as bad as starting with another expansion team. It's kind of like poker. Your coach is the Ace in the hand, but perhaps you don't have a supporting hand to give you anything even with the Ace. You have three options:

1- You can trade in all of your cards including your Ace for an entirely new hand - which almost NEVER works
2- You can trade in your Ace and a few of your other cards to see if you get a better hand - but even this is still risky because you just traded in your best card for an unknown.
3- You can keep your Ace, but trade in a few of your other cards that don't seem to fit well with your hand to see if you can make a better hand. This is the most likely scenario as it's the least risky and the most likely to give you a better hand.

Based on the pre-season experience, Ellinger is an Ace. He is a good coach. It seems people are fooling themselves into thinking he's a much lower card and want to trade in their whole hand. Big mistake, in my opinion. Trade a few cards that haven't made sense - but keep most of them to keep the benefits of learned teamwork over the course of the season - and keep Ellinger there to maintain the most needed aspect of stability on a team.

GEEEEEZ! Someone kill this thread and put it out of OUR misery. As I said before, this is WAAAAAAAAAAY premature!

We're all disappointed with the season. We all had high hopes at the beginning of the season. We saw big name stars and someone had positive news about everyone they got. We knew the odds were against us, but we all still had high hopes. It's a great disappointment to all of us.

I see some issues that need to be worked out:

1. I think they are not fit enough.
2. Some of our best players have been gone, for National duty, a lot.
3. We've had a lot of injuries.
4. We've changed formations for practially every game. At least partially because of number 2 and number 3.
5. Plus, let's face it, we could not just pick anyone we wanted to start the team. Even the players we have added since then have sometimes worked well and sometimes not.

All in all, I don't think we're doing too badly. Yes, I would have liked to see more wins, but considering that we started from scratch, I think we're doing okay, not great, but okay.

The only thing we can compare our team to, is the other expansion team. Have they done a lot better? No.

I think we all fooled ourselves, at the beginning of the season, into thinking this expansion thing was going to be a snap. Well, now we know better.

Here's what I expect:

1. I expect to do better next year than we did this year.
2. I expect to see less fiddling with the formation and roster
3. I expect to see more scoring

Here's what I hope for:

NEXT YEAR, THE PLAYOFFS!

But I says it's way to early to be talking about firing Coach Ellinger!

Great post JIM!
I wish we could end this thread on that note, I hate seeing the stoopid title of this thread whenever a new post comes up...
