😳

I still maintain the hope, however unfounded, that the Rocky vs. legislature aspect of the stadium is mid-process posturing; if/when Mr. Checketts chooses downtown, the legislators would have to really go out on a limb to try to obstruct construction of the stadium. They would appear to be undermining a project which would generally be perceived as being good for the city and state (as long as the people don't perceive it as the taxpayers dishing out the majority of the money). In the end, I think the legislature will get on board with whatever is decided, provided that public expenditures aren't excessive. I also think Gov M is stronger than people perceive and can twist a lot of arms behind closed doors.

Freudian slip-- I meant Gov H!

If you are saying that he needs to stop being an arrogant jerk with a propensity for aggravating everyone outside SLC, well, I agree.
If you are saying he needs to do so immediately to put the city in a position where they may be able to get some state funds, well, lets just say his last 6-7 years of behavior make that scenario unlikely.
If you are saying there is another funding source for SLC to use to get the property, then please let us (and the city counsel which is not aware of one) know.
Last..."arrogant?" yep..."dumb?"...I'm not sure that anyone thinks he is dumb, but "politically naive" is probably undisputed.

No I agree in general, I am more talking about him in general. I don't think he has a magic wand, although, most politicians do when it comes to a project they want. Rocky definately has power issues though, he likes to be the biggest dog in the park and barks a lot and pees against every tree when another dog looks or is bigger. He also has a propensity to annoy about 46% (just a guess, probably way off) of the people in SLC too. It's not just non mormons that live there.

There is a completely new option on the table right now as to how to fund the stadium downtown, it may be successful and may not, I actually think it is a great way to fund it downtown.

And of course, you can't tell us what it is, right?

Is this a result of the "coalition of the willing" we heard about a few months ago?

Nope, it's a great idea and it is a 'real' possibility right now.

I suspect it will break soon enough in the press, someone on the city council I am sure will tell. It involves a very clever distribution of monies so no public monies per se would be raised or asked for.
