My daughter (shes 12) found out Mathis was traded today. She got a sad face and said "Mathis was my idol". LMAO Now that I think of it, he was an interesting influence on her and her soccer playing. All her life she has played soccer but until this year she was very timid and would just sort of follow the ball around and not really fight for it. Watching Mathis helped her be more aggressive, and I remember she even got a foul once for elbowing someone and she came up to me and said....If this was RSL and I was Mathis that would not have been a penalty. She kind of gave the ref a hard time. It was funny. So Mathis...one little 12 year old girl from your hood will miss you....(and her Mom too). Good luck in Colorado (or wherever you end up) we will miss your spunk! :punk:
That's really sweet. I will miss him. He was definately the most entertaining player. (Next to DJ doing his stretches facing the north goal.)

I had a conversation with Steve Pastorino today and he wanted me to clarify one error on the trade information that is floating around.

As reported by Are You Loyal? on 12/15/2005.
In the Press Release from RSL that was handed out at the player introduction at Biaggi's it clearly stated that Jeff Cunningham was acquired through a trade with the cRapids for Clint Mathis and a 2007 natural first round draft pick.

I have been informed that this was a typographical error and that there were in fact, no draft picks given away in the trade.

When asked for further details on the trade Steve stated that he was not at liberty to discuss the details of the trade other than to point out the typo.

Hallelujah! Merry Christmas to us all. Thanks for the update, Deuce (and SteveP).

I would have to agree with you. I'd hate to be the one that set up that press release. I would imagine they've had better days.

Aero and I discussed this when they had the Welcome party for Garlick, Talley and Cunningham. CRapids gave a first rounder to the Crew for Cunningham on 2005, so that was probably where the typo came from.

Well, so we weren't willing to do anything to get rid of Clint, at least. Good to see we've still got a first round pick. It'll come in handy with Clint eating up some wages while running around Invesco berating the refs.

Are the traveling fans ready for Clint to part his butt cheeks for them? 😲 Seriously, during the USOC game at The Jimmy (StPaul,MN), he stopped, bent over so his rear was facing the Thunder supporter and did a lil butt cheek grab (shorts were on) to them. I thought it was pretty funny. But some folks may be caught off guard by Cleatus being Cleatus.

Yes, well he is still Cletus and nothing should surprise us! :jawdrop:
